Joseph Louis Barrow, better known as Joe Louis and affectionately nicknamed the Brown Bomber, is considered to be one of the greatest boxers in boxing history. He was in a record 27 heavyweight championship fights and that record still stands. He held the heavyweight title for over 106 months, which was longer than anyone else before or after him, and he also achieved 25 successful defenses of his title. In 2003, Ring Magazine ranked him #1 on its list of the 100 greatest punchers of all time and in 2005, he was named the greatest heavyweight champion of all time by the International Boxing Research Organization.
